Harrowing Hells is a mod that introduces a juggernaut of an opponent, the Cinderscourge. This sucker is packed with a brand variety of brutal, yet manageable (with enough practice) means of assault that's sure to scorch your mettle.
Setup recommendations for the boss fight include: Potions of speed and fire resistance first and foremost, preferably the long-lasting variant as the whole fight was designed with those specific baseline requirements in mind. If you're new to the whole dodging game, a complete set of Netherite gear should benefit greatly. Have at least half a stack of steaks and golden carrots for secure saturation (and if you're unconfident, some golden apples for useful status effects). This whole fight was designed around melee combat so grab yourself a sword (or an axe) and a shield, bows are generally redundant. Last but not least, some ender pearls to save yourself from trouble (do note that the last moments of the battle forbids the usage of them so please keep this in mind). As a sidenote, you are advised to from time to time, alternate between first and third person, a rather irritating process I can totally understand, but I promise you'll get used to it eventually.
At the moment, the boss is inaccessible via purely-survival mode means and is only accessible via commands (/function cinderscourge:_admin/). This, however, will be addressed in a future update which will come along with a custom item drop as a reward for besting this foe in combat.
For now, you may as well enjoy pitting it into conflicts among other resilient adversaries (mob battles, to be extra clear) as this boss was strictly programmed with that idea in mind.
Attacks
-
The boss leaps backwards, exerts an infernal shockwave its opponents have to jump over and proceeds to spew a volley of fireballs. The volley begins with an alternation between a spread of small fireballs and a single large, explosive fireball. This is followed by a pause before a rapid surge of large fireballs, culminating in a single dragon fireball that leaves a cloud of harmful energy upon impact.
-
The boss will leap over its target, again generating a shockwave upon landing as a ring of self-orbiting meteors rise from the ground that will fly into the target's direction one by one.
-
The boss will summon monoliths of magma from the ground at random positions around the player that will then move forwards into one of four cardinal directions closest to its target. Avoid getting slammed by one of these monoliths.
-
The boss will discharge red projectiles from its tail into the air that will burst into a rain of smaller projectiles. Eyes in the sky, I advise.
-
The boss leaps away from its target, once again leaving a shockwave upon landing and begins revving its engines for two consecutive charge attacks, followed by another two after a short moment of suspense. This ends with another leap toward its target that leaves a shockwave.
-
The boss leaps backwards, leaving (heh, wouldn't you know it,) a shockwave. It will then summon lines of thick magma spikes that will proceed to drift into one of two directions. Your shield is your best friend here.
-
Finally, upon reaching 66 health points or below, once its done performing its current attack when it so happens to be performing one, it begins absorbing tiny projectiles unto itself (the projectiles will deal damage) to which it slowly encases itself within an orb of infernal energy. It then rises into the air before unleashing a devastating sweeping laser beam attack in a circular motion across the battlefield, leaving flames in its wake. Once that's done, it will descend and pursue its target before erupting in a blast expanding forth into four directions as a cross shape, with every step of the explosion leaving behind withering clouds. This is telegraphed by two red lines crossed against each other.
-
Survive its final onslaught as described above and the rest of the battle is handed to you. The boss remains stationary for the remainder of the battle, calling down flaming, withering projectiles from above its target. Basic strafing motion is more than enough at evading this pathetic final act.
