Welcome to Sunken Shores, the first major update in the Bygones new roadmap.
We bring to you a complete overhaul of the Primordial Oceans and Primordial Shores!
This update contains multiple new blocksets, new enchantments, new mobs, world-gen optimization,
so many QoL changes and additions, and much more!
New features in 2.0:

- Optimized, overhauled, and tweaked Bygone world generation. (Detailed below!)
Bygone terrain generation additions and changes:
- Primordial Shores now generate below Primordial Oceans.
- Primordial Shores now consist of he aquifer pools dripping into the terrain below the Primordial Ocean.
- Both Primordial Shores and Ocean primarily use Shellsand as their surface block, vice Shellstone.
- Vegetation in the Primordial Ocean and Shores has been increased.
- Completely rewrote coral generation for increased readability, stability, and customizability.
- Added new coral type, 'bycoral_pillars', which generates a cluster of pillars that conform to the ground.
- Glow Gravel has been reduced.
- Terrain surface blocks (surface rules) of various biomes were altered slightly to increase the "stone" blocks for all the biomes (e.g. the Underhang biome now has more Claystone, rather than having vast swathes of just moss for an entire vertical column)
- Rivers are significantly less likely to be cut open by cave generation
- Added the Bygone Barrens biome.
- Added Large Ferns to the Underhang.
- Glow Lichen now generates throughout the Bygone.
- Largely reduced the amount of Kelp and Seagrass in Primordial Oceans.
- Removed Red and Brown Mushrooms.
Bygone Barrens
- A smaller barren biome that will generate between all other biomes.
- Contains little pockets of other biomes inside of it.
- Has a bit more ore in it then other biomes!
Seaglass
- Seaglass is a unique type of Glass that will allow Players to look through water.
- Seaglass can be obtained by smelting Shellsand.
- Smooth Seaglass can be obtained by smelting Crushed Seaglass, which is crafted with Charcoal, Quartz, and Seaglass.
Amoeba
- Amoeba are strange little creatures found in the depths of the Primordial Ocean.
- When killed, they will drop Amoeba Gel, which will add a large amount of saturation to your Gumbo Pot when used.
Aquifawn
- A neutral, jittery creature that hunts down nearby Amoeba.
- Can be saddled and steered with the Amoeba Gel on a Stick.
Murklings
- Hostile and secluded creatures that will protect their nests if you venture too close to them!
- Murklings will hunt down nearby Primordial Fish as well.
Primordial Fish
- A ambient multi-colored fish that can be found in the Primordial Oceans.
- Some varieties glow!
- Unlike their Overworld (and more modern) counterparts, are edible.
Breath Pods
- Breath Pods will generate on the Ocean Floor, and consuming them will increase the Players oxygen levels.
- Breath Pods are also found via fishing in either the Primordial Oceans or Primordial Shores.
Glow Concrete and Glow Concrete Powder
- Crafted with Glow Concrete, Shellsand, and the dye of your choice.
- Uses the default Concrete and Concrete Powder textures, has a light level of 15.
Sunken Ruins
- A new structure that will generate at the bottom of Primordial Ocean seafloors.
Carapace Greaves
- Serve as a unique leggings item found exclusively in Sunken Ruins.
- When equipped, Players will be able to swim much faster then usual.
- Can be repaired with Glow Chitins.
Leeching, Siphoning, Curse of Suffocation and Curse of Famine:
- Leeching enchantment will grant food and saturation when attacking an enemy.
- Siphoning grants air while draining it from the enemy.
- Curse of Suffocation will suffocate Players faster.
- Curse of Famine will make Players hunger go down faster.
- Found exclusively in chests in the Bygone.
Changes to existing textures:
- Tweaked Alpha Moss Block and Alpha Mossy Claystone textures.
- Tweaked Ancient Leaves texture.
- Tweaked Byslate Coal Ore texture to be more visible.
- Tweaked Belladonna texture.
- Tweaked Coleus texture.
- Tweaked Creosote texture.
- Updated Roasted Sable Nut texture.
- Updated the Ice Bouquet, Lithoplasm, and Wraiths texture to be more consistent.
Changes to existing features:
- Bygone Portals have been simplified.
- Fungal Beings are now 75% quieter.
- Wraiths will now flee and be able to turn invisible if their target is too close.
- Trilobites now drop Glow Chitins.
- Sable Moss Blocks and Sable Moss Carpets are now usable in Gumbo Pots.
- Gumbo Pots can now be found in Villages.
- Sabeasts now have unique sounds.
- Whirliweed Bundles no longer work in Creative Mode.
- Bonemealing Sable Saplings will now produce smaller Sable trees as well.
- Bonemealing Sable Leaves will now produce a Sable Nut.
- Malachite Doors are now waterloggable.
- Renamed 'primordial_beach' to 'primordial_ocean'
- Renamed 'oceanstone' to 'shellstone'
- Renamed 'primordial_sand' to 'shellsand'
- The 'deepslate_ore_replaceables' and 'stone_ore_replaceables' tags are no longer modified
Bug fixes:
- Fixed Big Beaks feathers not rendering on top of their heads.
- Fixed Orange Fungi Vines being more common then the other Fungi Vines.
- Fixed Charnia and Crinoid animations.
- Fixed Bygone aquatic mobs not being in the 'aquatic' entity tag.
- Fixed Coelacanth animations.
- Fixed Claystone and Coarse Claystone not being tillable on NeoForge.
- Fixed Chiseled Malachite being placeable like Pillars.
- Fixed Poultry not being cookable.
- Fixed Verdigris Blades dealing only a half of heart of damage.

- Fixed Wraiths being unable to become fully invisible.

Updates in 1.4.2
Tidings all, this update brings with it a new biome to explore, a new hostile creature, so many new plants,
a new game mechanic, fishing in the Bygone, and so much more!
This update is being released earlier then we wanted, on a mix of a fatal crash needing to be patched and
personal events shifting development.

Sable Groves
- Sable Groves is a biome that will generate on the edge of Megalith Fields.
- The Sable Groves is home to unique vegetation, and the Sable Canopy.
Speed Wheat
- A new plant that will appear in more "lush" biomes, if a entity walks through this plant they gain a temporary speed boost.
- When broken, a edible item/seed will drop. Which will also give entities a speed boost.
Gumbo Pot
- When you right click on the Pot with a "ingredient", and it fills up the Pot with one level (There are eight levels for now)
- Players can right click the Pot with a bowl and get a "Gumbo" Bowl.
- Early-game resources, such as moss, sticks, slimeballs, and rotting flesh, can be added to the gumbo pot to create something of a sustainable food source, should the player be desperate for food.
- NOTE: We are looking for a lot of feedback with this Block, so please let us know what you think!
Gumbo Pot Ingredients:
- An arbitrary number can be decided that determines how long ago an ingredient could have been added before it becomes completely "phased-out" (deleted from the data pool,) its assigned stats becoming incrementally smaller in value the closer it gets to that point.
Sabeasts
- Sabeasts are hostile animals found only in the Sable Groves. When seen, they will blind the Player and dash towards them.
- Sabeasts are terrified of Torches and Fire, and will flee Players holding Torches.
Dogus
- Dogus are decorative statues found via brushing Suspicious blocks found throughout the Bygone.
Wriggling Soil, and Bucket O' Baitworms.
- Wriggling Soil is now found throughout the Umbral Soil patchs in the Sable Grove.
- When right clicked with a bucket, Players will receive a Bucket O' Baitworms.
- When a Bucket O' Baitworms is used on a body of water, a 8x8 area will be affected, making "bites" more common when fishing.
- Using a Bucket O' Baitworms by crops will also speed up their growth!
Bygone Fishing
- Every biome within the Bygone now has three unique fishing pools, "General", "Rare", and "Treasure".
Changes to existing features:
- Mooboos now have their own unique sounds.
- Lithine Ores texture has been changed.
- Bygone Portals now have their own ambient sounds.
- Ice Bouquets are now on the Creative Menu
- Chantrelle Spores have been renamed.
- Rivers no longer stop at certain biomes.
- Reduced the amount of Amphoras found within Villages.
- Megalith Faces no longer require Silk Touch.
- Golden and Iron Beak Armors are now smeltable to their respective Nuggets.
- Villages now have Suspicious Claystone scattered throughout them.
- Megalith Fields now have their own water color.

Its time for a ~Halloween~ timed update!
This update is entirely themed around one biome, the Megalith Fields. We have also redone the terrain generation (Yet again), so we advise you delete your Bygone dimension before continuing on in this version!
But we have snuck in a few other features, such as -Rivers- in the Bygone!

Bygone terrain generation.
- Bygone terrain as a whole extends down to ~-40 (from ~0 in the old version)
- Bygone terrain is more vertical, but connected, so the normal bygone terrain is more walkable and unique
- Caves now generate above ~150
- There are now waterlogged caves above oceans.
- There are plenty more caves, and more cave types (especially in the ~150+ cave section)
- Slightly reworked biome distribution to be on a closer scale to the nether.
- Oceans have been given more open space.
Villages
- A brand new "abandoned" structure found deep within the Underhang!
- You will be able to find some very helpful things within the Villages barrels.
- The "Shuffle" music disc is exclusively found here as well.
Megalith Fields biome
- Added the Megalith Fields biome, with strange Miniliths dotting its landscape, and large Megaliths in the distance.
Alphahang biome
- Added the Alphahang biome, a warped take on the nostalgic days of old.
Rivers
- Rivers will now stream through the more humid biomes of the Bygone.
Lithine
- Added the Lithine Ore, which drops multiple Lithoplasm when destroyed.
- Lithoplasm can be used to craft Lithine Lamps. (More uses will be coming in the future!!)
Lithy
- Added the Lithy, a lovable slab that will occasionally trip and make the ground spit out some unique items.
Wraiths
- A new hostile mob found lurking within the Megalith Fields!
- Has a melee attack where they will occasionally teleport themselves or the Player.
- Casts a Ice Bouquet spell, creating ice-y fire under the Players feet.
- Drops the Ice Bouquet item when killed.
Ice Bouquet
- A new ice fire variation that doesn't produce any light, and won't spread to nearby blocks.
Malicious War Horn
- A unique instrument found only in the Villages, when used it can summon a fury of Vexes that will fight for the Player.
- These Vexes will die after 40 seconds, and there is a cooldown period afterwards.
Echo Gong
- A unique instrument that can be crafted with one Verdigris Ingot and four Echo Shards.
- When used, it will build up charge and releases it in an AOE shockwave around the player which breaks fragile blocks and debuffs opponent mobs with weakness.
- Can be found in Sewers.
Whirliweed Bundle
- A item found only in the Villages, when used will give the Player the "Updraft" effect, which will let Players soar on up with a cloud, and let Players sink if they sneak.
- Can be crafted with a Whirliweed, String, and a Verdigris Scrap.
New Advancements
- "Let Bygones be Bygone": unlocks when Players enter the Bygone.
- "Sights of the Ages": unlocks when visiting all Biomes in the Bygone.
- "Cowabunga!": unlocks when Players visit the Sewers.
- "A Hollow Nest": unlocks when Players visit the Villages.
- And more...
Amphora
- A colorful decorative block that can store up to eight buckets of Water!
- Amphoras can by dyed as well.
- Can be crafted with seven Claystone.
Verdigris Cogs
- A decorative Redstone component that gives different pulses depending on its State.
- Broken Verdigris Cogs don't have any pulses at all.
- Can be crafted with one Redstone Dust and one Verdigris Scrap.
Lithine Lamps
- A new light source that can be switched between light levels by right clicking.
Megalith Totem:
- When Lithoplasms are used on the Megalith Totem, it will randomly grow any Crop or Sapling within a 8x8 radius.
Changes to existing features:
- Adjusted which songs play in which biomes, with every biome now having its own song.
- Fungal Blocks and Fungal Bricks now have new textures!
- Underhang trees now only generate on Moss Blocks.
- Updated the Bygone Item Group icon.

Greetings all! It's been a while since the last -major- update, so do we have some changes in store!
We have changed how the Bygone generates as whole entirely, reworked the Amber Desert biome, revamped the Ancient Hook, added a new mob and so much more!
PLEASE keep in mind you WILL have to delete your /bygone/ dimension folder before updating! Some of the changes will have made things unstable in older worlds!

Terrain Generation changes and additions:
- Added the "Primordial Beach" biome
- Added noise Pillars to the terrain
- Verdigris Scrap Blocks generate near the bedrock layer
- New cave generation
- Redistributed biomes (Beaches will generate next to Oceans, Amber Deserts are less common, and Primordial Oceans are smaller)
- Made the overall terrain more traversable by flattening it!
- Ores generate more as a whole in order to encourage exploring cave expeditions.
Amber Desert changes and additions:
- Is now made up of Amber Sand and Amber Sandstone.
- Increased amount of Amber "boulders" in the biome.
- Turned down the light levels of all Amber blocks.
- Patches of Amber Clumps generate on walls and ceilings.
- Pointed Amber now generates only on ceilings.
- Tweaked the fog and sky colors to fit the dimension better!
- Removed Creosotes from generating in the biome.
Ancient Hook changes:
- Ancient Hook now discards when in liquids. (this is to fix strange behaviour with water),
- Ancient Hook now discards when the player is further than 64 blocks away.,
- Ancient Hook now discards when the shift key is pressed.
- Ancient Hook now attaches to blocks way faster as its shoot speed has been increased a lot.
- Added Ancient Hook as loot in Bygone Mineshafts.
- Ancient Hook now has unique sounds!
The Nectaur
- A new "hostile" mob that spits out poisonous (or slowness) Petals at Players!
- Will be more likely to become hostile when in big groups!
- Single Nectaurs like to stalk nearby Players.
- Drops Poultry and Cooked Poultry when killed.
The Whiskbill
- A new passive mob found only in the Underhang.
- Will seek out fully grown Glow Gourds and devour them, spitting out the Seeds!
- Adults will retreat from nearby players and poison players that hurt them!
- Can be bred with Gourd Slices!
The Pesky
- A Pest variant that is Hostile!
- Is only found in the Mineshafts.
- Has no knockback from any attacks, so be careful!
Technical features:
- Added the new item tag "whiskbill_food"

- Chiseled Polished Bystone and Byslate are now craftable.
- Ancient Hooks are now craftable.
- Verdigris Ingots are now craftable.
- Amaranth Grain is now craftable from Amaranth Bales.
- Alpha Moss Blocks are now bonemealable.
- Underhang water color has been adjusted.
- Underhang ambience now plays 50% less of the time.
- Copperbugs, Pests, and Trilobites are now considered "Arthopods".
- Copperbugs now scrape any Copper Blocks they find.
- Claystone Farmland is now hydratable by Water.
- Sprinkler now bonemeals crop randomly 20% less.
- Pests now consume crops 50% more.
- Big Beaks now have a health range of 5 - 7 hearts.
- Big Beaks now drop Poultry or Cooked Poultry when they die.
- Mossy Claystone now boosts Sniffer eggs hatch rates.
- Glow Gourd Vines now grow.
- Glow Gourd Vines are now obtainable in Survival via Shears.
- Montsechia texture has been changed.
- Montsechia now crafts into White Dye instead of Light Blue Dye.
- Creosote and Creosote Sprout textures have been changed.
- Creosote and Creosote Sprouts now generate in the Primordial Ocean.
- Byslate no longer requires iron tools to break.

Hello all! We were hoping to release 1.2.2 a bit later with the rest of the planned content, but we encountered an unfortunate crash that occurs with other mods installed.

Plaga Crop

The Plaga Crop can be planted on Claystone Farmland and grows into the Plaga.

Plaga Seeds can be found in numerous structures across the Bygone! (For now!)
Plaga

The Plaga can be placed on floors and walls (Like a torch)

Repels Pests away from any crops!

Has a light level of five.
Chantrelle

The Chantrelle is a extremely slow growing mushroom found in the Shelfhollows.

While growing, the Chantrelle can -slowly- age other crops around it as well in a 8x2x8 radius!

When finished growing, the Chantrelle can be popped off and eaten (Which restores 3 hearts!)
Pest
-
The Pest can be found rarely in the Underhang, and more commonly around Abandoned Farms.

The Pest will eat any crops it finds, and flee from any nearby Plaga or growing Plaga Crops.
Abandoned Farms

Currently found in variations in the Underhang and Shelfhollows biomes!

Contains barrels with seeds, local plants, and occasionly some rare items in it!

[1.2.3+:] Even more iterations of the Abandoned Farms are coming as well in the near future!
Ancient Saplings
- Can be placed on ceilings and grown into Ancient Trees!

A very important patch is here with a fix to a major crash, along with some minor bug fixes.
We've also updated our Fabric and NeoForge requirements to 0.16.10 and 21.1.119 respectively!
And please note that currently Custom Portal API Reforged is currently required for the NeoForge port!
