1.3.1
Added new “threatening” mode for the spider form obsessed version - this one slowly stalks the player, following and keeping a distance while keeping a highly ominous look. Chance to spawn when at -5 mood The “intruder” obsessed mode can now place paintings around your spawnpoint. Nine different custom paintings added initially for it to place around, adding even more variety to the experience of its obsession. These paintings will vary by mood - if it has a happiness level below 0, it will place the four darker paintings, or if 0 or above, it will place one of the five happier options. Added a new hallucination spider version that hangs upside down on the ceiling, spawning in the same way as the “surprise” version based on detecting the player being indoors. This one persists for some time, giving more chance for players to spot it, and then starts running across the ceiling Fixed issue where the top of traps wouldn’t fully “despawn” themselves Added another new “nightmare” hallucination version that dashes at you extremely quickly and straight through walls, using its spider legs to grab you upon contact. New animations include a run version that includes both the human and spider legs Added a brand new configurable forced targeting system, as a backup for players who report not being targeted for long periods after world start. By default, it is set at 60 minutes, so if you are not targeted within 60 minutes of world spawn, you will be force-targeted If you destroy one of the obsessed’s gifts or paintings while it is nearby by throwing it into lava or fire, it will anger the obsessed and decrease mood Hallucination obsessed modes and particularly aggressive modes like the abduction and new threatening spider mode can no longer be given gifts Added craftable plushie item (crafts from various gifts) - gives +3 mood on pickup, and sets mood straight to -5 if burned Traps now match the biome foliage colour, and trap obsessed version should more effectively lead players into them (turning into flee version less easily) Doubled default time before obsessed loses interest in players not in the overworld to 40 mins Drastically increased chance of protective obsessed mode spawning, with a requirement of -2 mood or above, and player being at half health or lower. It may be too common now, so I’ll be open to feedback on whether it is displacing other versions too frequently. Fixed blank signs issue for later MC versions, signs should hopefully always have text now when placed Significantly improved reliability of fleeing and climbing mechanics. Plus, added another system to detect if they’re stuck and despawn if so Fixed issue with the new command that reports last reason for being un-targeted New animations, and major improvements to model and existing animations
1.3b
Fixed issue with the new command that reports last reason for being un-targeted Comes in addition to the recent major update:
1.3 - biggest update yet! Tons of improvements and bugfixes, along with the new menacing arachnoid form, appearing when the obsessed is angry (-5 mood)
Added the full Arachnoid form! The Obsessed now becomes much more spider-like when very low on mood, except for the abduction (it needs to use its arms for that) - multiple new modes implemented based on the true spider form now introduced (previous versions were only hallucinations). Four basic spider modes mirror and extend mechanics of regular modes: (flee, jealous, crawl). Spider_flee: Runs away like the regular flee version, but will be faster and prone to climbing walls. Spider_jealous: Like the regular jealous version, it attacks nearby passive mobs and players, but this one is stronger and attacks hostile mobs too. Spider_crawl: If you get close, it lunges at you to attack, then retreats. Its attack should not be able to harm you enough to kill you. Spider_enraged: Attacks everything, including targeted players - the obsessed becomes truly enraged and hostile in this form, enabling it to defend itself if it gets to low health. This one has a 100% chance to spawn if the obsessed is attacked by a player or pet when below 150 health, currently. Two new unique modes added: “Saviour” mode, triggered if it sees you in a cobweb. It will run over and fire a web line to pull you out of the cobweb. This integrates directly with its other new mode. “Trap” - this mode is dangerous even to the obsession target, as it directly attempts to lead you into a trap (widespread hidden bed of cobwebs generates upon it spawning - don’t worry, this automatically cleans itself up instead of leaving the world griefed). New blocks added for the trap mode - these automatically clean themselves up, and will also be used for some buildings it will make in future Added convenient “obsession immunity” potion effect, useful for modpack and map makers as it prevents you from being targeted by the obsessed - similar to the supreme repellant item. New global mode shuffle system added. No longer are the mode choices completely random - now it cycles between all modes in a random shuffled order each time, so there should be significant guaranteed variety Swim version should no longer persist on land, despawning instead Added new config option that lets you add any items (via their IDs) as custom gifts (+1 mood) that you can give the obsessed Added new config option that lets you disable cooldowns on the obsessed replying to chat messages, so it would reply extremely commonly (not recommended in most cases) Spider hallucination version is now exclusive to moods below 0 Improved reliability of the “opportunistic” version that comes to take gifts if it sees you holding them Fixed issues with signs being blank. Now they should replicate slurred fragments of things you said in the past. Plus, the mimic version can now send a chat message of a word from its history upon spawning Improved debug mode position indicator Added new gift item, the “ancient tattered robes”, alluding to the future Tormentor cult Added multiple vanilla items as gifts the obsessed can give (plus some two gifts that were meant to be implemented), matching up with the gifts it wants to receive from the player and serving as a clue. It gives raw meat and apples+golden nuggets simultaneously Fixed issues where obsessed could switch modes at unpredictable nearby positions in specific circumstances Fixed significant issue with the mimic version spawning multiple flee versions Boosted frequency of deposit version Opportunistic mode now has a slightly different animation of its own and sends a hotbar message when approaching, letting you know why it is approaching Added config to optionally disable arachnophobic elements (not recommended generally) Intruder version is now exclusive to low mood. Keeping it above -1 mood ensures you won’t have to deal with the intruder replacing redstone torches etc Swim one now avoids letting players too close Fixed issue where opportunistic version may be unable to despawn itself in specific cases Improved adaptability of the spawn system (switches between X and Z scanning after resets to player position, instead of based on the spawn attempt timer, and now affects tree/water-avoidance scans) Enhanced “it saw you” popup - now shows head and animates Added a 40 minute minimum cooldown between spider hallucination spawns, and they don’t spawn for as long Opportunistic version should now reliably run away when approached closely Increased the overall brightness and contrast of some obsessed textures to make it easier to see the details Added note about the debugmode command on world load Fixed some potential exploits with the dusty spider egg item Debug sword now gives saturation and night vision when crouching if it is in your inventory, plus holding right click with it lets you levitate Decreased smoke from flee version respawns Removed heartbeat sound from the surprise version Many miscellaneous model and animation enhancements
1.15
- Drastically boosted default initial targeter entity spawnrate and increased default stalk frequency
- The obsessed is now much rarer during daytime. The spawn timer decrements four times slower during daytime (when targeted)
- Fixed issue where mood would decrease repeatedly when spawning attempted but was not possible due to limitations in place to make it avoid spawning on top of players
- Lowered rate of spawning the “behind” version, and it now only spawns when the obsessed is unhappy, disappearing after a shorter duration too
- Doubled default config “patience” value from 5.0 to 10.0, so it now takes twice as long to become unhappy. It was too fast previously.
Major world freezing issue is now fully identified and fixed. Thanks to TheTrapdoor, Bizzle, and Ron_Dallas for the incredible assistance in identifying the issue in order for me to fix it!
- Various other tweaks and enhancements
1.13.1
Fixed potential world freeze issue Improved performance of the mod
